Brace, Brace
Urban Cow

Bristolian journeymen Chikinki have plagiarised so uncannily Fuzzy Logic period Super Furry Animals it results in the most odiously outdated music this side of Shed Seven’s Greatest Hits. Coming live and direct from the backend of Brit-pop Brace Brace recalls the worst characteristics of the era. Arch, pedestrian and unappealing they traipse the line between satirising empty mediocrity and being the very definition of it. Boppy, electro-tinged weirdness and fun house synths clash with a terse vocal style poorly matched to the blithe psychedelic observations on polyester pond life, which SFA did so likeably but with humour and lyrical dexterity. Apparently they’re big in Germany. Which is probably the weirdest thing about them.
