EXIT DREAMS
HUNCHES
IN THE RED

In an effort to re-ignite the North West’s garage scene, Oregon’s Hunches trade in luddite, shitty, noise-garage, styled to evoke the notion of doomed greaser’s and switchblade rumbles. Malevolence floods sputtering, dysfunctional tunes, revved and ratcheted by ferocious, tonally miserable guitars, demonstrating to the likes of The Horrors exactly what it means to really sound weird. If they would only hold fast to the premise but alas the disease and debauchery is reeled in for several ballads, simultaneously a snip too angst-y to suit the baby-boomer idiom and not quite naive enough in an ‘at the malt-shop’ kind of way to sustain the illusion of delinquents with fuzzed-out fenders. Hellacious discord replaced with Bryan Adams.

6/10
