VICE AND VIRTUE
KEITH
LUCKY NUMBERS RECORDS

Manc indie band ‘Keith’ inspire little in the listener but impatience as you wait for both the trotting, hazily arranged songs and Mark Olsen’s enervated vocals to finally engage and deliver you from the jaws of catatonia, but the rescue party never arrives. Even the occasional groove-powered number seems oddly dormant and so bereft is the music of a distinctive flavour, Vice And Virtue is practically a blank page. Their one saving grace is ‘Lullaby’ in which Mr Charisma takes a break from dissecting the everyday and dreams of escape with his lover, conveying at last a little bit of urgency and deeply-felt emotion. An ordeal even for the most noble of musical adventurers.

4/10
