TINY MASTERS OF TODAY
SKELETONS
MUTE RECORDS

Now a stately thirteen and fifteen years of age respectively, the trash-punk siblings of Toytown have returned to binge on a pow-wow of genres in augmentation of their mussed garage template. Like bored toddlers rattling wedding gifts, experiments into electronica, hip-hop, dub abound. Each excursion is savvy and keenly observed yet always evident of their desire to still be kids and it makes a nice change to hear lo-fi fuzz thats isn’t contrived by knowing 25-year-old hipsters. (Vivien Girls, Wavves). Extolling the charms of crappy recordings and warped levels, the scuzzy lollipop-punk of ‘Real Good’ and ‘Ghost Star‘ is at once skipping and dispassionate and ‘Abercrombie Zombie’, displaying signs of scowling teendom, is a much relished pop at the Plastics. Though undercooked in places, this is spookily accomplished and a triumphant evisceration of their image as mere novelty moppets. John Calvert
